Ted Minier, OGS Development Committee Chair, has announced
that the Isaly “kick start” campaign to pay off half of our $600,000 USDA Rural
Development loan on our library building construction project was successful! We
surpassed our goal and have brought in $369,704 in Building Fund donations during
the 2011-2013 time frame. Our lead donor and library namesake, Sam Isaly,
immediately emailed his congratulations and is committing to his 10% kick start
match. We still have approximately $230,000 to raise before we can “burn that
mortgage!”

Snow Rollers at OGS!
After being closed for a couple days due to the below zero "polar vortex" weather, we were surprised to see snow rollers on the library roof! If I had a ladder, I could get you a better snapshot!

Morrow County Chapter Honors Winton Arnold
Winton Arnold was an Ohio Genealogical Society Trustee from 1985 to 1990. He also served as Building and Grounds Committee Chair for many years. This means that he made repairs any time anything went wrong, laid carpet, and assisted with two building moves. What makes this newsworthy is that Winton celebrated his 100th birthday on Dec. 31, 2013. He was honored with a 100th birthday party at the Morrow Co Chapter meeting in Mount Gilead this week. Betty Meier, Morrow Co Chapter President; Deb Jeffers, OGS Trustee, and Tom Neel, OGS Library Director, all gave comments about Winton and his wife Dolores (who is age 95). Winton still is serving as the Historian of the Morrow Co Chapter OGS. Don't we all aspire to give this many years of volunteer work to the community!
